It’s easy to picture visitor servicing as something that just happens behind a desk at a Visitor Information Centre. But, in reality, frontline staff members across our region – baristas, brewers, cellar door hosts, hotel receptionists, housekeepers and more – can all play a powerful role in shaping the visitor experience.
They’re often the first to be asked: Where should we go next? What’s good around here?
And when they’re equipped with local knowledge, first-hand experiences and a spirit of collaboration, those small moments of interaction can turn a good trip into an unforgettable one.
That’s exactly what travel writer Danielle Norton experienced on her recent trip to Ballarat, as shared in a glowing article for Escape:
“Every operator I spoke with recommended the next one,” Danielle wrote. “There’s a collective attitude that a rising tide lifts all boats in Ballarat.”
She described Ballarat as a place where businesses champion each other, where “all the restaurants and cafes got together and decided to rise as one”.
We couldn’t agree more. It’s something we’re proud of and something we want to keep building on.
So, here’s something for your team: a free, fun outing that doubles as professional development.
We’re inviting local operators to get involved in our Industry Excursion program – a series of behind-the-scenes experiences designed especially for frontline staff. It’s our way of saying thank you to your team for the work they do, while helping them grow their local knowledge and insights.
Please share the link below with your team or register on their behalf to secure their spot. Spaces are limited.
