Ballarat has been awarded silver at the 2025 Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards.
Announced at last night’s gala ceremony in Shepparton, the accolade reinforces Ballarat’s position as one of the state’s leading visitor destinations, known for its creative tourism offerings and visitor experience innovation.
An initiative of the Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC), the annual awards celebrate towns that deliver exceptional tourism experiences, foster industry collaboration and create vibrant communities for visitors and locals alike.
Tourism Midwest Victoria Chair, the Hon. John Pandazopoulos, congratulated Ballarat on the silver result and praised the region’s continued leadership in Victorian tourism.
“Building a standout destination doesn’t happen overnight – it takes teamwork, dedication and a shared vision. This award highlights the strength of our region’s collective effort,” Mr Pandazopoulos said.
“It’s a nod to the unforgettable experiences on offer across Ballarat and beyond, and to the energy and care our tourism operators, local businesses and communities pour into making the region shine.”
“Everyone who plays a part in our visitor economy has helped make this happen. It’s a reminder that we’re moving forward – shaping a destination that captures hearts, encourages longer stays and leaves visitors wanting more.”
City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Tracey Hargreaves said the award highlighted the strength of collaboration within the local tourism industry.
“We are thrilled to be recognised with silver in the 2025 Top Tourism Town Awards. It’s a celebration of everyone who contributes to Ballarat’s evolving tourism story – from major attractions and emerging businesses to proud residents who invite their friends and family to visit the city,” Cr Hargreaves said.
“This achievement puts Ballarat on the map once more as a dynamic, welcoming and must-visit destination.”
The submission for the 2025 awards highlighted Ballarat’s mix of gold rush-era history, thriving arts and culture, vibrant hospitality and a growing reputation for creative innovation.
